How to play

Buzzer

Sixty seconds. Two names. Pick the bigger night.

The card

Every card is two real performances and one question: points, rebounds, assists or threes made. You get each player’s name, who they were playing and how long they were on the floor — and nothing about the stat you are being asked to compare.

The two nights are never close. A card where one player had a single rebound more is a coin toss dressed up as a question, so the deck only uses pairs far enough apart that knowing the players actually helps.

The clock

60 seconds, running from the moment you press start. Answer and the next card is already there; there is no undo, no skip and no submit button, because a timed game with a submit button is a game you can pause by not pressing it.

The deck holds 60 cards — far more than anybody reaches in a minute — so the thing that ends a run is always the clock.

Why it stays quiet

Every other game here answers back as you play. This one does not, and the reason is worth being straight about: for the screen to tell you that you were right the instant you tap, your browser would have to be holding every answer before you started. A card has two possible answers, so there is no way to send something you can check afterwards but not before.

A leaderboard whose answers can be read out of the network tab is not a leaderboard. So the answers stay on the server, the run is marked when the clock stops, and you get every card back at once.

How you win

Your score is the number you got right — a raw count, not a percentage, which is why this board has no ceiling. 12 is a win.

You do not recognise either name
Answer anyway and move on. A wrong answer costs nothing but the second you spent on it.There is no penalty for a miss. Time is the only currency, so the worst thing you can do is stall.
One player is a star and the other is not
Take the star — but check the minutes first.Minutes are on the card for a reason. Twenty-two minutes caps what anybody can do in a night.
The question is rebounds or assists
Stop thinking about who is better and think about what they do.These are the cards that separate people. Scoring and reputation travel together; rebounding and passing do not.
The clock is under ten seconds
Keep answering. Every card still counts the same.Nothing about the last ten seconds is worth less than the first ten.

Every card is built from real box scores in the committed snapshot, and the pool is limited to players who actually played a season - a comparison is only a question if both names mean something.

Scoring

One point a card, and the score is the count. 12right wins the run. For the cross-game leaderboard the count is mapped onto the same 0–100 scale every other game uses, with thirty as full marks; Buzzer’s own board keeps the raw number, because that is where the difference between thirty and forty actually shows.
